Cruising the Rhine – Switzerland

ZurichSeveral weeks ago, we did a cruise on the Rhine River from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. We have been on many ocean cruises in the past but this was a different and much more personal experience. There were only 140 passengers on board and it was a very enjoyable trip.

There was a land component of the cruise in Zurich and Lucerne prior to joining the ship in Basel. The blog and pictures will be broken down into four sections, the land component in Switzerland, the river cruise through the Alsace, the Rhine river through Germany including the Rhine Gorge, and Amsterdam where we spent several days. A Rainy Day in Edinburgh


Edinburgh Royal Tattoo

Two years ago in August we did a cruise with Princess that circumnavigated the British Isles with stops in Wales, Ireland and Scotland as well as England. The cruise lasted two weeks and was one of our better adventures. Edinburgh in August is fun! In the evenings there is the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo and on the Royal Mile (the main drag in old town) is the Festival Fringe which they bill as the largest arts festival in the world.
